Maximizing the Results: 9 Essential Post-Botox Care Steps

Anti-wrinkle (Botox) treatment by Dr Sandra

Congratulations! You have decided where to get Botox in Bournemouth and have visited the best aesthetic clinic in Dorset - you are officially on your way to smoother, glowing skin...

I can remember just how exciting this feeling was the first time I had treatment too. It felt incredible to have finally invested in myself and in my skin health—plus, it was quick and painless, wasn’t it?

Now you might be wondering: What’s next? What should I do after Botox?

Here at Miriderma Skin + Wellness Clinic, in the heart of Christchurch, Bournemouth, I always take the time to guide you through the aftercare steps to make sure your results last and you avoid any unwanted side effects.

Let’s walk through the nine essential tips now to help you to get the best from your treatment:

9 Key Botox Aftercare Steps:

1. Stay Upright for 4 Hours

After your Botox session, try to keep your head elevated for the next 4-6 hours. It helps prevent the Botox from spreading into areas we don’t want. Use this as an excuse to relax—just make sure you stay sitting up!

2. Hands Off the Area

I know it can be tempting to touch your face, but avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas for at least 48 hours. Botox can move to other muscles, and we want it exactly where we placed it! When cleansing, just gently pat your skin dry.

3. Keep Muscles Active—but Don’t Go Overboard

I always say Botox loves active muscles. But there’s no need for exaggerated facial expressions—just natural movements are enough to help the Botox settle perfectly in your muscles.

4. Skip That Night Out (Sorry!)

Hold off on makeup for about 12 hours and steer clear of alcohol for 24 hours. This reduces the risk of bruising at the injection sites and gives your skin time to breathe and heal.

5. No Gym for 24 Hours

Give your body time to relax and avoid any strenuous activity for the next 24 hours. High-intensity workouts can increase blood flow, which might cause the Botox to spread to unintended areas.

6. Stay Away from Extreme Temperatures

For the next two weeks, avoid saunas, steam rooms, or direct sunlight. Extreme heat or cold can cause swelling or irritation, and we want your Botox to work its magic without interruption.

7. Wait Before Booking Additional Treatments

I know how tempting it is to get all your treatments done at once, but I recommend waiting at least two weeks before scheduling any other facials, microneedling, or skin peels. Your treatment needs time to settle down.

8. Patience is Key

Results aren’t instant, but they’re worth the wait! Botox takes between 2-14 days to fully kick in. You’ll notice those fine lines starting to soften, and soon your skin will be glowing!

9. Enhance Results with Additional Skincare Treatments

While Botox smooths out wrinkles, you can amplify those results with clinical skincare treatments like Profhilo, microneedling, and medical-grade skincare. At Miriderma Skin + Wellness Clinic, I specialize in creating personalized skin programs to keep your skin looking fabulous long after Botox treatments.
